List of Charges and How to Pay

Please note that some of our charges increased from 1 April 2011

Payment can be made by cash, cheques, made payable to Cheshire West and Chester Council, or by credit/debit card payments (Mastercard, Visa or Visa Delta). Please do not send cash through the post.

If you are paying for publications, photocopies or research, or you are paying by credit card, you can go to our Record Office Shop.

Photocopies and digital images

Please specify a maximum amount you are willing to spend and we will copy up to that amount.  You will then be notified of any additional charge and asked to pay the remainder.  You will initially only be charged £3.50. 

Please note that if you order copies in the Record Office searchroom the minimum charge of £3.50 will not apply as it should be possible to calculate the exact cost at point of ordering.

List of additional charges for prints from images we create using our camera.  This applies to items which we cannot copy with a photocopier or flat-bed scanner (eg volumes, coloured items, fragile items, large format items).

Search Fees

If we have not been supplied with sufficient information to identify a particular document or page we may levy a search fee of £5 per 15 minutes in addition to the copying fee.

Research Service

£25 per hour (from 1 April 2011)

Permission to copy items at the Record Office

From January 2011, we will be making a charge for the use of digital cameras.  The rates are Day £3, Week £10, Annual £40.   If staff supervision or use of Record Office equipment is required £20 per hour.

Talks

Standard charge for talks and lectures at outside venues or for visits to Record Office.

During office hours 1-2 hours duration £40.00

Reproduction Fee

For use of copies of Record Office documents in commercial publications. From 1 April 2011

Print Run 1-100 £25.00 +VAT
  101-1000 £30.00 +VAT
  1001-10,000 £60.00 +VAT

Photographs and photocopies are supplied for private research or study only. Permission must be obtained from Cheshire Archives & Local Studies before items supplied are published in any form. e.g. in a book, on television, or on a website.  If several documents are to be reproduced, fees will be subject to negotiation.
