Where is the service based and how do I make contact?
The Cheshire Archive and Local Studies service is based at the Cheshire Record Office, Duke Street, Chester, Cheshire CH1 1RL, England. Our telephone number is 01244 972574 and you can email us.
The service identifies, collects and cares for archives and publications that are the evidence of Cheshire communities’ lives past and present. We deliver access for all to our collections for information, learning and enjoyment and work to make sure archives survive so that future generations will be able to do the same.
We are a shared service of Cheshire West and Chester and Cheshire East Councils.
The service is also responsible for delivering the archives service for Warrington and Halton boroughs.
Archives and Local Studies Relocation
Between April and June 2014 Cheshire West and Chester and Cheshire East Councils ran a public consultation about the potential relocation of the Cheshire Record Office. Almost 800 responses were received and the final report is complete.
